Rides for SeaWorld
SeaWorld needs more indoor attractions. It rains almost everyday during the summers in Florida yet SeaWorld has few places for people to retreat to during these rain storms. SeaWorld also lacks the dark rides that seem to always be some of the most popular rides at the other local parks. I think a few dark rides scattered around the park would make SeaWorld seem worth the $75 ticket price that some people currently complain about. By adding a few small rides it helps scatter people around the park and helps with crowd control much easier.
Shamu’s Big Sea Clean Up- This would be an educational dark ride that uses the laser shooters that are very popular these days. This ride would be feature Shamu and his happy friends. Guest would board submarine looking ride carts with laser guns attached. They would then travel along simulated coastline to shoot at potential trash. To add an extra unique touch to the ride the guns will also have water cannons attached, so guest would shoot the water cannons at the trash but the built in laser would help keep score. The ride would teach about why its important to keep our waterways clean but would also be a fun educational ride. One of the main reasons I love small family dark rides such as this is due their potential small footprint. This could easily be built in a multi-story building
Hurricane Hunter- I have always dreamed of having a ride themed to a plane trip through the middle of a hurricane. Guest would board what looks to be a normal small plane, it would ‘take off’ and then travel through the storm. In the midst of the storm it would begin to get very bouncy, the lights going out, flashing lighting outside, loud crackling wind, then the windows come off allowing for massive amounts of wind inside the ride compartment. Then the roof would lift off, allowing guest to witness the clouds and experience the wind first hand. Rain would pelt them as the wind beat against them. The whole time the guest would here updates from the ‘captain.’ Towards the end of the ride the plane would ‘lower’ closer to the ocean and waves would then splash over the rood and through the broken windows. Guest would get off the ride soaked, wind beaten, and with a true sense of what a hurricane is like.
Journey to Atlantis Expanded Area- The Atlantis area of the park is one of the best themed and most popular areas. There is the ride Journey to Atlantis, a gift shop, a small aquarium, and the Kraken coaster (Kraken is supposedly the pet of the evil lady from the J2A ride). This themed area would be perfect for a small dark ride where you travel through the beautiful Atlantis. It would be a simple, highly themed dark ride. The goal of the ride would be to find the golden seahorse (the hero on the current Atlantis ride). You would travel all through the magical areas of Atlantis looking for the seahorse, then of course you find him and it ends with a celebration. The ride track could take guest through both an inside dark ride and outside along the Atlantis area, similar to the elevated train ride on Suess Landing at Islands of Adventure.
Along with a J2A dark ride this area could easily become a major kids area in the park. I would love to see a highly themed bumper boats here, swings, and maybe a two decker carousel. SeaWorld has a great play area for the youngest of guest but Shamu’s Happy Harbor is a bit to childish for older kids (6-12), this area would be great for them. Plus there is plenty of room to expand to in this area, the area has huge backstage areas plus massive retention ponds they can build atop of.
Haunted Lighthouse- Sally Corp just signed the rights to license and design rides with the Goosebumps franchise. (I so hope that Holiday World jumps all over this, it so goes with their theme!!!) At one time SeaWorld had a popular attraction themed to the a R.L. Stine movie of a haunted lighthouse. The movie was long and kind of boring, what would be so much better would be a haunted lighthouse ride-through attraction. This would go great in the Ports of Call area of the park. Again it could easily be multi-storied. Like the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom this ride could be more fun scary than actual scary.
