Security at the Parks

So today two teenagers were shot in the parking lot of Wet n Wild, this after a cop was attacked and used 'chemical spray' to calm those attacking him. The minutes after the shooting there was chaos and fear throughout all of north International drive. Within minutes officers had arrived and calmed the scene and the roads around Wet n Wild were reopened within an hour of the shooting.

This all raises a ton of concerns, questions, and thoughts about security at I-4 parks. Which parks do you think have the best security, which have the worst?

The parking garage complex, such as the one Universal has, seem to be able to control the crowds. A multi-level site such as this would have come in handy today at WnW.

I have found the secuirty at most parks is lacking. The baggage check is usually a quick glance into the bags.

I expect to see much tighter security at the parks in the up coming months/years. Similar to the type you see in airports. Shoe checks, bag checks, and clothing checks. Since its on private property you might see a rise in security cameras that do facial recognition also (much like what you see in Ybor or at like what was at the Super Bowl a few years back).

Overall the security in Florida parks is lacking but improving. There are more security guards, cameras, and bag checks than pre 9/11 but the security still has much to be improved. As shown today, the place with the biggest improvements is security in parking lots. I personally love the parking set-up at Universal and wish all the parks would go to multi-story garages like this. This also helps with the traffic flow and when theres an issue on one level, the other levels can stay open, something that wasn't possible at Wet n Wild during todays shooting.
